DESCRIPTION
A tool that visualizes the point in the product lifecycle where stakeholders can intervene in the product’s expected journey which enables the rapid construction of scenarios for exploring and describing future circular product service systems.
AIM
Enable the design of future, circular product strategies.
How TO USE THE TOOL
In summary, what needs to be done is that populating the CIM involved identifying which touchpoints were relevant to the map, and then placing them in the appropriate position.
STEP.1 First, Define PSS scenario concept
STEP.2 Select intervention touchpoint. Select the intervention touchpoint according to the defined scenario, either using the provided intervention touchpoint card or creating your own (PS. Creating your own intervention touchpoint card requires following the established steps and format)
STEP.3 Place the convention touchpoint at the correct location on the map
Map Introduction :Purchase, Pre-Purchase and Post-Purchase these three phases were identified as the widest level. Then six phases encompassing the NPD process through to Usage were modeled as the intermediary level, and finally, at the narrowest level of detail, 18 discrete phases were identified . In addition, the CIM places concentric rings to indicate the degree to which an organization (i.e., a brand or manufacturer) is able to control consumer interventions, with decreasing ability moving away from the center of the map.
Results
Users are able to get a visual map of the possible interventions of all stakeholders in the complete life cycle of a product.
The nature of the PSS scenarios generated through the CIM tool means they do not provide definitive ‘answers’ to circular design problems; rather they illustrate possible futures that cause questioning of assumptions and act as the starting point for future investigations.
